About
The Durgau Beach complements the mix of health and relaxation offered by the Turda Salt Mine. A spa and leisure alternative, both on holidays and on hot summer days.
With family, friends, at any age, Durgau Beach is a welcome option for everyone who wants to be healthier by using natural remedies.
The beginnings of the spa treatment in Turda date back to 1840 when Doctor Iosif Hanko founded the Băile Sărate Turda resort by arranging the Roman lake. The Durgau lakes have been used for spa and therapy, both empirically and with minimal arrangements since the 19th century. The chlorosodic mineralized waters have been used to treat rheumatic, peripheral circulation and gynecological conditions.
The high level of sodium chloride (rock salt) in the lake waters (10% at the surface, 28% at 30 meters deep) makes the heliotherapy phenomenon very intense. The arrangement of the Ocnei and Rotund lakes in Durgau was a first step towards the complex exploitation of the therapeutic potential of the area.
With a long tradition, during the summer, the mineralized lakes formed on old salt mines offer tourists a wonderful place of recreation and relaxation in a natural setting. For added comfort, sandy beach areas, wooden piers, showers and a terrace bar have been arranged.
